[UPDATE] The date this show airs changed to Wednesday 18th July, 2012 at 730pm.

This Friday the 13th, watch Lucy Muchiri and other panelists as they discuss way forward in  ”Saving Mother and Child” on KTN your channel your choice at 7:50pm.

It is a sad reality that 1 out of every 200 women will die while giving life- at birth in Kenya.  1 out of 20 children may never live to see their first birthday.

Lack of information and knowledge about pregnancy, lack of quality care, accessibility to health care centers and lack of skilled attendants at birth are among the reasons for these deaths in women at birth.
Infections, malnutrition and diarrheal diseases are the commonest killers of the newborn baby.

As a country, we should meet the objectives of the Millennium Development Goals 4 and 5 by 2015. MDG 4 to Reduce Infant Mortality and MDG 5 to Improve Maternal Health are still far from being achieved. We all have a role to play in this. Educate and support each other towards the best maternal and infant care.

Help Kenya achieve MDG 4 and 5 by 2015.

  1. Go Lucy, go. I will be you audience!

  2. Looking forward to the discussion. No woman, in this day and age should die from childbirth. Those are avoidable deaths.

  3. Thank you ladies. And yes, each woman deserves to live and take care of their newborn; each newborn deserves to live to be an adult.

  4. This is very nice. I will be watching.

  5. Why is it that there is a lot of campaigning regarding contraception when young impressionable women don’t have accurate information on fertility, reproductive health and good ante-/post-natal care? Our young daughters should be told exactly how wonderfully created they are so that people won’t mess them up. Lucy, please make some noise for us, I will be watching.
